Energy - renewable energy sources 

       The project is oriented towards two important issues connected with mastering renewable sources of energy and decrease of green house effect. In particular our goal is to find favourable conditions for production of hydrogen from water and other fuels like methanol or formic acid from carbon dioxide.

    Two key reactions will be studied namely water splitting and carbon dioxide reduction. In nature, these processes occur at biomembranes and involve proton electron transfer reactions. Here, the gist of the proposal is to study these reactions at polarised liquid | liquid interfaces supported on a solid electrode. In this way three   phase   junctions:    electrode   |   liquid   |   liquid
are formed.
